
Provide bagged lunches for individuals in the CARITAS Surge Shelter.
This emergency response shelter provides additional capacity to support individuals experiencing unsheltered homelessness in the Greater Richmond region during extreme weather this winter. It will operate from December 1 through March 31.
This opportunity is completed off-site, and volunteers are responsible for assembling and delivering the lunches. The lunches can be prepared and dropped off any day during the work week between 10 AM and 10: 30 AM. Weekend lunches are dropped off on Friday between 2-3 p.m. Lunch for The Surge Shelter can be dropped off at the CARITAS center (2220 Stockton Street, Richmond, VA 23224).
When preparing lunch for drop off, please prepare 75 lunches.
Some easy menu suggestions include:
Sandwich or Wrap: PB & J, Ham, Turkey, Club, Chicken Salad, Tuna Salad
Fresh Fruit: Orange, Apple
Snack: Bagged chips, Cookie, Brownie, Cheese stick
Drinks: Bottled Water, Bottled Soda, Bottled Juice
